Colleges and universities in the United States recognize the IB program as equal or superior to the AP program. Parents and students are encouraged to go to the website www.ibo.org and click on Diploma Program and then University Recognition. This site will allow you to enter a college/university name and view up-to-date policies regarding IB. The University of California system now includes a question on its standard application, “Are you an IB Diploma Candidate?” Only 63 high schools in California currently offer the IB Diploma Program, so this is a distinct advantage.
