How DO cheaper auto glass installers cut corners?
• They claim that they buy their glass in bulk, passing the savings on to you. Consider this: to give you the replacement for a ridiculous price (i.e. to offer to pay off ALL your deductible) on a $300 insurance claim, they would have to get a $700 windshield for HALF PRICE! This is a virtual impossibility (unless the glass is flawed!) The idea of getting glass for 50% less is further put to shame by the fact that the average windshield is around $200! Even if you COULD get 50% off the price of the glass, that would only be a $100 savings to them. Where do you cut another $200? HOW do they save all this money? They use off-shore, low-quality glass; they don’t remove all the urethane off the body of the car; they use low quality urethane; they refuse to remove the cowl and wiper arms; they use a buzz box (an auto wrecker’s tool) (link: mugshot) to hack the windshield out of your vehicle; they don’t use primer on the body of your car; and they don’t use activator to get the urethane to s
