How do buffet restaurants manage to stay out of bankruptcy?
They save money by not having to pay the waitresses that bring the food to your table (there may be one to bring you drinks, but obviously a waitress at a buffet restaurant can handle more tables when they only need to bring you drinks so they can get away with paying half as many waitresses to work or even fewer). Food itself is actually pretty cheap, and many will creatively place the cheaper foods in places you’re more likely to choose them over more expensive foods (for example, rice or potatoes at the beginning and meat towards the end of the buffet table).
