How do breast cancer rates compare around the world?
Although breast cancer rates around the globe have been rising, breast cancer rates are highest in North America and northern Europe and lowest in Asia and Africa. Non-industrialized countries have lower breast cancer rates than industrialized countries and breast cancer rates for women who move to Western Europe or North America from countries with lower rates begin to rise within a few years. The daughters of these women have rates of breast cancer equivalent to women in the host country.
