How do beneficiaries who are not dually eligible for Medicare and Medicaid enroll in Part D?
By law, non-dual-eligible beneficiaries voluntarily elect to enroll in a PDP. Beneficiaries can enroll by calling the plans directly or by visiting the Medicare website (www.medicare.gov). To assist beneficiaries in making decisions about enrollment, CMS sent Part D information to beneficiaries, and the plans in each region sent marketing materials to beneficiaries. In addition, beneficiaries were encouraged to call 1-800-MEDICARE for questions and to seek advice from social workers or other qualified healthcare professionals.
