How do astronomers apply there math skills in astronomy..?
I am no math fan but in Astronomy math, I am driven to compute or calculate. I use it in magnitude of stars. Just by having at least one or two reliable values, I would be able to tell the parameters of certain stars. I started liking astronomy with that. For stars, there are things to compute like distances, runaway speed, orbital dynamics in multiple star systems, eclipses, masses, age, metallicity and almost everything. I also use math in the physics of galaxies, star clusters, supermassive black holes and even in superclusters. Math is important in astronomy. You wouldn’t have complete grasp or picture of everything if you cannot put it to scale, if you cannot do the math. Of course, I also use it in my line of work in electronics every single day of my adult life. Clear skies!
