How do artificial intelligence robots (like Jabberwocky) work?
Artifical intelligence programs of the sort used by the Jabberwacky program ( http://www.jabberwacky.com/ ) are pattern matching algorithms. The program tries to match the text entered by the user against its databases of responses, and select a suitable response. Jabberwacky outperforms its competitors because it has such a large database. These programs are still at heart using technology hardly more advanced than a load of instructions of this form: if user says “hello”, repsond “hello, how are you!
