How do arpeggios work?

0

Arpeggios come from the scale you just played. Start on the first note, play the next note a third up, play the next note a 5th up from the first note, then play the top note of the scale. That’s a basic arpeggio. A good way to practice these is to play them right after the scale. At my school, the standard way of playing it all together was play the scale, starting with a quarter note on the first note, then go up on eighth notes, then play the top note as a quarter note, then go back down the same way. When you get back down to the first note, play it as a quarter note again, then play the arpeggio in eighth notes, play the top note as a quarter note, then go back down the same way, ending with a quarter note. These directions must be really confusing, but they’re really quite simple once you understand. Good luck!
