How do APRNs obtain reimbursement for their services?

0

Third party payors determine which practitioners and providers they will pay for covered services. All practitioners and providers who receive reimbursement need to be recognized by the payor. There are two ways to receive reimbursement for APRN services: • Direct, with the APRN’s name and number on the claim, and for which reimbursement may or may not be the same as what the physician receives for the same service; or, • Indirect, with the supervising physician’s name and number on the claim, and for which reimbursement is the approved amount for physicians and is paid to the supervising physician (or practice).
