How do Antisocial Behaviour Notices work?
If a local authority finds that a landlord is failing to take action in respect of tenants who are engaging in antisocial behaviour, it will first provide the landlord with advice and assistance on the management of antisocial behaviour. If the landlord does not respond to this advice and assistance, the local authority may decide to serve an Antisocial Behaviour Notice. The Notice would describe the antisocial behaviour and specify the actions the landlord should take to address it within a clear time period. Non-compliance with a Notice is a criminal offence.
