How do antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) work?

0

Antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) work on the brain to try and make the brain less likely to have seizures, by stopping the disturbed brain activity that causes seizures. So AEDs try and stop seizures from happening but they do not cure epilepsy or cure the underlying reason why someone is having seizures. For example, someone might have seizures because of a head injury. AEDs cannot cure the damage from the head injury but they might stop the seizures from happening.
