How do animals navigate during migration?
The article presents a classroom activity which will help school children to understand on the role of the earth’s magnetic field in the navigation of animals during migration. Scientists have studied how animals navigate around the globe and discovered a number of mechanisms, some animals use landmarks, the position of the sun in the sky, and even the position of stars, however, the earth’s magnetic field is one of the remarkable methods, which will be shown in this classroom activity. This activity needs two bars of magnets and a string to tie the middle of one of the magnets and to hang it so the magnet can swing freely.
