How Do Algonkian Events Differ From The NYC Pitch?
The NYC conference focuses on premise and platform, doing whatever it takes to acquire a publisher (while learning to structure your plot/story at the same time), whereas the mainstream events such as Algonkian Park and Fisherman’s Wharf focus on core issues of voice, style, narrative execution, character development, as well as plot structure, while also teaching the value of premise and the high concept pitch–all in a drill-down workshop enviroment. Secondly, Algonkian events are much smaller in size than the NYC conferences, but the basic workshop structure remains the same. The new Write and Pitch Conference contains workshops also, but for the most part, focuses on delivering comprehensive A-Z on all things an aspiring author must know to avoid or break the rejection cycle.
