How do air bags reduce injury?

0

The air bag is released when there is a collision and instead of flying into the steering wheel you will hit the air bag which will gradually slow you down, reducing your overall velocity, and will minimize impact. The slowing down is the key as if you slow down gradually your body can alter to the conditions, whereas if you hit the steering wheel and stop instantly your body will take a worse battering as the forces are much greater. There is a scientific equation to explain it but i don’t remember it. It’s been a while since i’ve done physics.
