How Do Actors Find Agents?
If you’re going to get an agent, you want to make sure the one you get is franchised by the actor’s unions like the Screen Actor’s Guild (SAG) and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA). A complete list of SAG agents can be found at the local SAG branch or online at www.sag.org. After choosing some agencies you might be interested in, you need to mail in your resume and headshots. Understand that most of these packages will be dumped in the office trash. Others will sit in a stack for months before being opened. Timing is everything.
