How difficult is it too sucessfully transplant small shrubs or anything for that matter in the Spring?
Early Spring is a great time to transplant, the roots waking up and putting out new growth into the new planting bed would be perfect. Anytime you transplant, you take a risk of losing the plant. Just like humans having surgery. The best and most successful transplants happen when you’re fully prepared. You have the right tools: shovels, pruners, pry bar (if this is a large plant). Have the new planting hole ready to plant so that your transplant spends the least amount of time out of the ground. And then water. Don’t worry so much about the sap, especially at this time of the year.
