How difficult is it to become a fashion designer?
I have friends that are designers and I would say there are a couple of ways to go about it. One is to go through a good fashion course after high school. You will meet a lot of people that you may end up working with if it is a respectable college. You could then try for a job at a fashion house but it would take ahile to work up. I would definately look at approaching companies to do some work experience. Even if you work for free, you will end up with some good contacts and they may offer you a job at the end of it. All the while work on your own clothes and get into your own style, then look perhaps at getting things stocked at small trendy boutiques. It is very competitive, so make sure you acquire all the skills you need and try to offer something special with your clothes. Always look at top magazines to see what the standards and trends are.
