How different was culture in the 60s then the 50s?

The 50’s was a post war period. A time for young families with servicemen home to start families. And finding a good job that would fit, and be able to support a wife and children. We as children then, felt secure, in that our country was impervious to any outside pene- tration. We could leave our doors unlocked still, and no one would care to enter, or steal. I remember walking to stores with mother, leaving the front door unlocked. No one thought twice about it. The 60’s taught us that there were crazy people out there that could attack another for any number of reasons. We saw our national leader die, and the world was in sadness. John Kennedy reached outside of our borders, and other countries felt our sorrow and showed it on TV. People my age were being drafted into the military. The Cuban blockade kept servicemen on alert at different army bases directed by that president. The area soon known as Viet Nam, had our attention as our service people were taken there to fight an unknow
