How different is the tattooing industry in the US as compared to India?
It is very different! In India, the tattoo industry has yet to develop. There needs to be some regulations in place. I have known people whose skin has reacted to tattoos. A lot of tattoo artists are non-hygienic. These days, people just buying the equipment and start a business from home. These people are not aware that by doing this they are exposing their clients to a very high risk of contracting diseases. Right now, a proper regulating body needs to be in place to keep a check on what is going on in these tattoo parlours. There are also a bunch of fakers out there. For instance, I just got to know that there is this guy who claims he has learned tattooing from me. But I haven’t taught anyone in 10 years! Do you think lack of awareness or resources is the root cause of the problem? Tattoo parlours fall in the category of salons,… so there is no real license required to start one. People need to understand that this is a booming industry and there need to be proper safety measures
