How different is it to scenic theming e.g. film set construction?
Film set and theatre construction is a specialist discipline that shares many similarities with themed construction, although the fundamental difference is that of durability. Film and theatre sets are not built to last and may only have a lifetime of several weeks. They can be augmented with lighting effects and post production techniques and in many instances are designed as portable and lightweight structures that can be constructed and disassembled equally rapidly. In contrast, permanent themed construction must withstand daily rigours of pedestrian traffic, water erosion, chemical attack and extreme climatic conditions for many years.
