How different from a regular delivery is being induced?

Pharmaceutical induced labor can be longer than natural labor and the contractions can be stronger (read ‘more painful and intense’) but certainly not in all or even most cases. My wife was ‘naturally’ induced for three of our four children’s birth meaning the OB simply broke her water with what looked a lot like a knitting needle. That was all it took and nature stepped in from there. You may want to discuss first trying this method with your OB before using a pharmaceutical method. Also, my wife never had an epidural with any of her deliveries and swears that made her labor easier and shorter and her recovery time faster. It was amazing to watch her flat out refuse the ‘pusher’ nurses who kept trying to convince her to get the epidural.
