How Different Can Quad Roller Skates Really Be?
Artistic Roller Skates are the traditional style of skate people remember from their childhood. These skates have a boot that extends up over the ankle and has about a one inch heel. This is to aid in supporting the ankle and will give the user a feel that is similar to a traditional walking boot. The more advanced artistic boots are made of leather, have notches by the ankles for greater ankle flexibility, padded tongues and special linings for comfort, and corkwood in the soles and heels for impact absorption. It holds the trucks, axles, and toes stops in their proper position. An artistic skate requires a plate that will hold the front truck a little less forward and place the forward axles centered under the ball of the foot. This placement has less stability than a speed or outdoor skate and enhances the skater’s agility for more complex artistic move
