How did you pick Logan Lerman for the starring role as Percy?
About 2½ years ago, I saw 3:10 to Yuma and I was completely taken by this kid (Logan). I thought that was a pretty good performance for a 14-year-old and I kept him in the back of my head. So when we were casting Percy, I asked Logan to come into the office and read and then we did the screen test and I have to say I was very impressed. I think this kid is going to be one of the greats. I saw his performance and was very impressed. I think Percy Jackson is just the beginning for him. I think this guy is going to be like Matt Damon or Tom Cruise. He is terrific and it’s an honour for me to know him because I know he’s going to go on to do great things. He’s a teenager with the mindset of a 60-year-old. He’s committed, he’s so intelligent and I don’t think he’s concerned with fame or any of that nonsense.
