How did you land at George Mason University in Virginia all the way from Champs Sports in Florida?
Last year around this time I went to speak at Mason. The sports management program offered me a position to teach as an adjunct. Up until July I thought I’d be an adjunct, teaching one class, and be head of Howard University’s sports marketing department. But George Mason reacted and said they wanted to create a position for me, full time. It’s also your first time as a professor. It’s one class, a sports marketing 400-level class. I’m in a unique position to learn about the different departments in our schools and at the same time partner with businesses, locally and nationally. My job is to find ways to market the center and find partnerships and sponsorships to keep the center afloat and to help provide research and grants and scholarships for students. What’s your initial game plan? My first initiative is to have a celebrity weekend at George Mason Dec. 5 to 7. The first it has ever had. It will be a three-day event.
