A. DEPSECDEF requested and received from the Services nominations of Flag/ and General Officers with significant medical center, Joint/OSD and operational leadership experience. After careful review, VADM Mateczun was selected as the JTF CapMed Commander because of his extensive background in command/staff and operational medicine leadership positions. His medical and leadership experience and proven performance made him best suited to lead the JTF CapMed.
