How did World War II affect American Domestic Life?

0

Before the war, women were expected to want to be home and raising the family. If they did work, it was in a “women’s job” teachers etc. But When the men went off to war, the women started doing the men’s jobs. The women became more independent and saw more worth in themselves as contributors not as tag alongs. So when the men came home, alot of the women had changed from being homemakers, to being capable of working the mens jobs. The men saw that they weren’t indispensible. Of course it took many more years for women to move completely out from under the husbands thumb. I think some women are still learning this today.
