How did woodstock in 69 begin?
The Woodstock Music & Arts Festival for Peace, as it was originally called, was a 3 day event that took place during August of 1969 on a farm in Bethel, New York. The opening song was a rendition of “Amazing Grace” performed by Joan Baez. There has been 2 more Woodstock festivals, one held in the 80s & another in the 90s but during the last one, while “Limp Biscuit” was playing, (not sure about spelling the band’s name) the crowd got rowdy and caused a lot of vandalism & started fires. It went out of control & put a damper on the whole thing. They never had another Woodstock festival again.
It began as a music and arts festival, a regular commercial exhibition but as hundreds of thousands of people showed up it became a free happening. At the time, drugs were very popular, as was a free approach to sex, and a lot of that happened along with nudity. Fortunately we live in more stern, merciless times now. People know they are not free to express themselves and that pleasure is evil. We are much more controlled now and glad to be under control. Freedom is slavery.
