How did winning a state title with Westlake (Austin, Texas) compare to winning the Super Bowl?
Drew Brees: You can draw a lot of parallels between the two. That was the first state championship my school had ever won. This was the first world championship the Saints had ever won. It took four years in high school and it was my fourth year in New Orleans. There’s something special about winning a state championship. It’s one of my greatest football memories. Maybe it’s because of that bond you share with your teammates in high school. The minute you come in as freshmen, you know you’re going to have four years together. And so you just slowly build it.
