How did Virgin Mary die?
That’s not as simple an answer as “she ascended into heaven.” Mary did die, of natural causes, likely at an old age. Jesus bore her spirit to Heaven after her body died. Three days later he returned, when angels carried her physical body to Heaven. JESUS ascended into Heaven, not Mary. She was carried to Heaven by angels (assumption). Jesus ascended to Heaven of his own power (ascencion). We observe the Feast of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary into Heaven, which celebrates the departure of Mary from this life by her natural death, and her assumption bodily into heaven. Still, it’s important to recognize that the Bible contains no scriptures or passages about the assumption of Mary into heaven. It wasn’t discussed or introduced into dogma until the 6th century AD. The Assumption of Mary was NOT part of the original teachings.
