How did Usagi get his scar?
During the final battle at Adachi Plain between Mifune’s and Hikiji’s forces, while holding Lord Mifune’s decapitated head (Usagi decapitated him so Hikiji would not take Mifune’s head for himself), Usagi, making his escape from the battle on horseback, encountered Lord Hikiji himself. It was Hikiji who struck a blow with his sword, going partially through Usagi’s helmet and thus cutting him above his left eye.
