How did Ubisoft and Secret Level become involved in the console version of Americas Army?
Tony Van: The Army approached a number of top publishers for the rights to license the Americas Army brand for console games. Ubisoft won out, based in part on our attention to realism and gameplay in games like Tom Clancys Ghost Recon and Brothers in Arms. We contracted Secret Level based on their innate understanding of Unreal game code they created the PS2 Unreal engine, as well as their location (they are 3 blocks from the Ubisoft SF offices.) Creatively, we also meshed, defining what the project would be very quickly, and they ran with the ball.
