How did Tyler Winik get so involved in Brevard County issues and how does he support an “office?
Tyler Winik has always been interested in Brevard County’s issues and welfare. He truly began working in the community on his own with the open house party initiative that was developed by the City of Titusville in December of 2006. Tyler’s late grandfather, Ken Karberg, was a former Development Review Director for Brevard County’s Land Development Department. Tyler’s great-great-grandfather, A. Fortenberry, was a longtime Brevard County Commissioner for Merritt Island, the first Canaveral Port Authority Chairman, a one time candidate for the Florida House of Representatives and local businessman. A. Fortenberry was also a driving force behind the creation of S.R. 520 and lobbied for the passage of a bill to create Port Canaveral, his dream of a deep water port to transport lumber and citrus. Also, Tyler’s cousin on his father’s side, John Hankinson, Jr., was appointed as the southeast’s Region IV Director of the EPA by President Clinton during the 1990’s. Tyler supports his “office” b
