But the Golden Hurricane players and coaches found it hard to smile. “A loss is a loss is a loss,” said senior linebacker Mike Bryan. It didn’t seem to matter to Bryan that the Hurricane defense held the Broncos 12 points under their 40.2-point scoring average, which ranked fifth nationally. Boise State punted on four straight second-half possessions before ending the game by running out the clock. “We didn’t play very good (defensively). They scored 28 points overall and that’s not a very good night,” Bryan said. “We played good that last quarter, but the first three we didn’t play very good.
