They were Nazis, not swastikas. Swastikas were their symbol. I would look up about “kristallnacht” which means “night of [broken] glass” when synagogues and Jewish homes and businesses were looted and destroyed throughout Germany. Many Jews were arrested and many killed. It took place just under a year before Germany invaded Poland, beginning WWII. The Nazis “justified” the violence with racist nonsense – I’m sure you’ll find some of it cited in your textbook or in any book in the public library on the subject. Or, do a bit of scouting around on Wikipedia. It’s really offensive, the things that were said – there was and is no justification for their actions. Because this is a hypothetical newspaper article, a 9th grade school project – you could reasonably put in your article that the victims said that one of their family members had been killed, or a woman might have said her husband was arrested and taken away, or a family’s store had been completely destroyed and they’d lost everyth
