How did the Wexner begin showing the Rare Films screenings in the first place?
Dave Filipi: It started about six years ago. I am really interested in baseball and I wanted to do a film series that had to do with baseball, and do it in April when the season is starting. I didn’t want to do a regular series like just showing Field of Dreams, The Natural, stuff like that. I wanted to do something different so I called the Baseball Hall of Fame and tried to explain what I had in mind [and] if there is any way we could perhaps borrow some of the films we assume they have in their collection. I started talking to them and they at first said, “We don’t really loan out the films. They are just for on-site research.” Then, they said that if we would be willing to screen video, they would be happy to make digital transfers of whatever we were interested in and we could use that.
