How Did The Television Series “The Addams Family” Start And When Did It Start?
The Addams Family was created by Charles Addams in the 1930s. He first created it as a comic strip for the New Yorker magazine. This “creepy, kooky, mysterious, spooky, although ooky “clan was headed by Gomez and Morticia Addams and they resided in a ramshackle mansion at 000 Cemetery Lane. The Addams achieved cult status when the they became subjects of a popular prime-time sitcom on ABC-TV (1964-1966) starring John Astin as patriarch Gomez and Carolyn Jones as his loving wife, Motricia. This later was followed by a Saturday-morning cartoon that aired from 1973-1975 and two theatrical releases called “The Addams Family” in 1991 and the sequel called “The Addam’s Family Values” which came out in 1993. Other members of the Addam’s Family include oddball Uncle Fester, pudgy son Pugsley, weirdo daughter Wednesday, witchy grandmother, furry cousin Itt, zombie-like servant, Lurch, and Thing which was a bodiless hand.
