How did the Scientific Revolution help medicine?
The scientific revolution helped medicine in several ways. First, it helped by providing a methodology for determining what was actually good for a patient. Instead of assuming that a procedure or medication was good for a patient because ancient authorities said so, doctors began testing for efficacy. We still do that today. There are some serious ethical issues about using humans for testing, but properly monitored tests using good methodologies give us more information about what does and does not work. Another way the scientific revolution helped was in providing tools for doctors to use. The microscope is the one object that comes to mind. Thanks to optical science, doctors were finally able to see microscopic life and accept that it was possible for such small creatures to affect the health of larger animals. Similiarly, the development of things from stethescopes to x ray machines to modern day CT and MRI scanners have allowed doctors and researchers to understand how the body w
