How did the Roman Gods and Fate influence the lives of ancient roman people?
The average Roman believed that the gods were ever present. There were gods for everything, and I mean everything. They had a god of doors, a god of hinges, gods of the pantry, etc. As far as the fatalistic view of the world, based on what I’ve read and seen, the Romans believed in fate (they invented the word) but they also believed that your actions influenced your fate, and your prayers, offerings and pleads for the intercession of the gods were the best way to improve your fate.
