How did the rise and spread of Christianity cause the fall of the Roman Empire?
There were million reasons for the fall of the Roman Empire! You’ve got a hugely expansive empire, without the cash to keep up, and with soaring inflation as a result. Plus, the army had become too dependent on mercenaries, who were loyal to their commander, not the empire. Not to mention barbarian attacks from the north and civil unrest within the empire, and one theory posits that the invention of the horseshoe in Germany in the first couple centuries C.E. had a lot to do with the the barbarians ability to overwhelm the previously formidable Roman army. And the Middle East was becoming a much stronger military force. The economy, and the empire, were badly organized, and were bound to fail.
