The same way others did. They had more resources than most, though. There are accounts of the nobility moving around from house to house to avoid a plague area. Some would go to a remote area thinking that they could avoid it by not having contact with others. If someone in their service showed signs of the disease they would isolate them. Research shows that there was a higher death rate among children than adults no matter what rank.Nearly every household lost someone.
