How did the NIGHTLIFE Series begin?
Well, that’s a funny question with a long answer…but we’ll try to keep it short…it all started in 2008 during a car ride to New Orleans when one of the 2dumbrunners had an idea to start a Social Running Club. The concept was simple enough: mix beer and music and food after a casual 5k run through Downtown Baton Rouge and hope 15-20 of our friends would join us. Luckily, the 2dumbrunners got the support of Jack and Brandon (owners of LastInConcepts/WalkOn’s & Happy’s Irish Pub!) to help turn that idea into a reality. Well, the club grew a bit faster than we thought and over 1,200 members later we said, “why not do a 5k race on a larger scale?”. The Happys5000 Road Race was started in 2009 and the positive feedback and fun we had producing it led to the creation of the NIGHTLIFE Series in 2011.
