How did the launching of a National Alliance Against Hunger in France take place?
Alain Pierret: The international community decided to unite its efforts to reach the goals set during the World Food Summit 1996. Representatives of 185 countries met during World Food Summit: five years later, held in Rome in 2002, supporting the creation of an International Alliance Against Hunger that gathers National Alliances to create awareness among world public opinion. The Alliance creates an enabling environment to reinforce political support towards already existing actions; it builds a common vision among partners, it fosters collaboration among them and represents an international forum to promote expertise. The International Alliance works through the National Alliances which constitute its national “chapters”.
