How did the idea for Spoon Fed Soup originate?
CN: Spoon Fed was born out of the desire to uncomplicate people’s busy lives. I thought that if I could create a company that made it convenient for people to eat good food in their time-starved lives, it would be a hit. Why soup? People are absolutely gaga over soup. Good soup is nourishing, flavourful and comforting to eat. My mother, Uhleen, made some of the best soups I will ever have the pleasure of eating. She was the MacGyver of the kitchen; she’d go in with a few veggies, some bones and a rack full of herbs and spices, and without fail, she’d come out with a masterpiece. I guess I inherited the soup gene from her. What makes your soup good? I take traditional recipes and get inventive with them using what’s in season. We make soup that costs a fair penny more than the crap you get in a can. And we’re unapologetic about that.
