How did the idea for a Ski Utah student recruitment campaign come about?
Andy Thompson: It really wasn’t too much of a stretch given the reason I had moved out here was to be a ski bum. But, there were a handful of times when I’d be riding the lift and people from Pittsburgh or New York or Boston would remark that if they had known about this place when they were 18, they would’ve found a way to go to college here. For a flatlander like me, seeing those mountains every morning still inspires awe—throw in the proximity to all the recreational opportunities the mountains provide, and it adds up to be a major attraction.
