How did the great depression affect the lives of the people?
alot of people had to move to california where they could get jobs… it was really hard on everyone but the rich. the stock markets went up, and up and up, so everyone invested a very good amount of their salaries in different stocks that were doing well, and suddenly, they crashed. everyone lost tons of money, and several people had to leave their homes, and didn’t have enough money to even get to california in one piece… i had to do a report on the great depression in 4th grade, so if you are doing a report, then check out the local library, you can get a bunch of info from that.
We just learned this in our junior class i learned terrific things stuff like It started in Europe made its way to America we were handling it okay but then Stock Market crashed and to make it worse The Dust Bowl also occured so i say it affected lives of Americans very harshly snice peopel say how thier grandmother and grandfather would keep breads or torn cloths from past experiences.
Where do some people get their ideas for answering a question like this? Some of them SOUND like a 4th grade answer or an answer based on watching the movie “Grapes of Wrath”. You didn’t ask how it started, what caused it or how it was recovered from, you asked how it affected the lives of people. People lost their savings, their homes, and their jobs. What happens when that happens? They stood in food lines, they starved, they lost their self respect and their futures. They would do anything for a job, anything to feed their families. Some families were drawn together, several generations living together because they couldn’t afford to live on their own. Some left their families, homes, wives, children and ‘rode the rails’ living from day to day. good luck on your homework. BTW read ‘Grapes of Wrath’ or watch the movie.
