How did the Great Depression affect Children?
Starvation, no toys, they had to work, etc. Imagine if your family had zero money. Imagine that it got so bad that you only got to eat two slices of bread per day. Bummer. Now, imagine that in order to help your family buy that bread, you had to run around the neighborhood looking through trash cans to find bits of scrap metal. You’d be dirty, tired, hungry… then you only got a few pennies for all your hard work! If you want to feel what it was like for them, start your morning with nothing but a small glass of milk. Then go for a 10 mile walk. Then eat one slice of bread. Then go for ANOTHER 10 mile walk. Go home, eat one more slice of bread and try to sleep. I’ll bet you a dollar that you either pass out from exhaustion or are completely unable to sleep from the hunger pain in your stomach. If this is for school, you can try the experiment (obviously, not so extreme, get your parents to help you) and then report what it FELT like. You could eat one egg for breakfast. Then go mow th
