How did the grandson of Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak die?”
CAIRO (Reuters) – The 12-year-old grandson of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, his eldest grandchild, has died after a “health crisis”, the Egyptian presidency said in a statement on Tuesday. Mohamed Alaa Hosni Mubarak, the eldest of two children of Mubarak’s elder son Alaa, died on Monday evening two days after the onset of the crisis. It did not elaborate. The boy’s funeral will take place on Tuesday evening in Cairo, the statement said. It gave no further details. Mubarak has been at Egypt’s helm for more than a quarter century, making him Egypt’s longest-serving leader since Mohamed Ali Pasha of the 19th century. Mubarak won a fifth six-year term as president in 2005. Analysts said at the time they expected the Mubarak family to start work on installing Mubarak’s younger son Gamal, 44, as his successor. Gamal has no children.
