How did the Gleaners funds get routed to the HCC?
” A little history: when Pastor Lee was here, the youth group sponsored a Gleaner’s food truck. This is an expensive venture to do continually, so Lee applied to the Gerber Foundation for a grant. About the time that Lee left, the grant was approved, and was being put into an account at Gleaner’s, with notification letters coming to the church in his name. By the time we figured this riddle out, the grants had totaled $3,200. The youth group leaders did not want to sponsor Gleaners trucks, and so we had funds for food with no place to go! Our local Gleaner’s truck ministry, Holton Helping Hearts, was not in need of the funds, so I spoke to Gerber and Gleaner’s about possibilities. The funds could be used for a food pantry, and since we have no desire to start a food pantry at our Church, it pointed to the HCC.
