How did the geography of Greece affect the development of Greek civilization?
The rugged, mountainous geography of Greece influenced the development of city-states (independent cities and their surrounding areas with its own government). The city-states were more independent of one another than if they were to be ruled by one Greek government. Intercity trade was also restricted by the terrain.
