Please define “American”. True natives probably walked across the early landbridge joining North America with present day Russia. They were most likely Mongolian Orientals. White Americans came by boat from Europe…Icelanders (Vikings lead by Eric the Red and his son Leif Ericsson…at least to Greenland and probably much farther) being the first.
